Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational 2017!

Of all the performances, workshops, and events that Prota attends, the annual Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational is one that always remains near and dear to our collective hearts. ITI was hosted by UCLA’s Kyodo Taiko and Yukai Daiko this year, and Prota had the opportunity to teach workshops on developing ensemble-style drumming techniques.

In addition, Mike, Eric, David, and Joe returned on Sunday to teach additional workshops for attendees and led a discussion on performing taiko after college. Since the majority of our members are former collegiate taiko players, returning to Invitational was not only a great chance to see the remarkable talents of the next generation of taiko players, but also a nostalgic reminder of the good times we shared with our respective groups.

A huge shout-out to Kyodo Taiko and Yukai Daiko for undertaking the monumental task of coordinating and hosting Invitational this year!
