Announcing: EMBARK

Hey taiko fans! It’s been a long while since we’ve spoken. Since our last concert, Prota has committed itself to the further development of the group’s artistic and logistic capabilities. We held our very first set of open tryouts and welcomed five new members to our team in 2024. A long-belated welcome to Debbie, Lauren, Jared, Kyle, and Sean!

Now, on to business! With our roster expanded, we wasted no time plumbing the depths of our collective musical proficiencies and exploring the new creative identity of our evolving ensemble. We challenged ourselves to compose and arrange some brand new pieces, and to reexamine some of our old repertoire through fresh eyes. The result? We’d preliminarily posit that for the purposes of prognosticating the potency of Prota’s preparations, the proof is in the pudding, or perhaps, the performance.

In other words, we’re very proud to announce our new concert, “Embark”

We invite you to join us as we showcase the creativity and spirit of our newly-expanded roster. All of our members, old and new, have committed to the preparation of a compositional offering for the maiden voyage of the current PROTA, and we are excited to share this musical potluck with the Southern California community.
